In her own time,she focuses her research and writing on the 19th-century marine salvage firm of B & J Baker & Co. Holloway has completed training in Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act with the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, Section 508 compliance, 36 CFR 79 compliance, OPSEC Awareness, and Anti-Terrorism Level 1. She has worked as an American Alliance of Museums peer reviewer and participated in the creation of MAP reports for peer institutions, served as an IMLS field and panel reviewer, and served on the boards of the Virginia Association of Museums and the Council of American Maritime Museums. She has also served as Vice President of Collections and Programs for The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, VA where she led the effort to create the 20,000 square foot, award-winning USS Monitor Center exhibition, which included primary research on the Battle of Hampton Roads, as well as the curation of 210 tons of federally-owned artifacts associated with the wreck site of USS Monitor. She has previously worked for the National Park Service as Maritime Historian in Washington, DC.
